 Savannah's Story

My name is Savannah Honarbakht and my pronouns are she/they. For as long as I can remember, I recognized a fire in me to be able to provide a safe place for those who needed it. This fire brought me to earning a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, which then led me to earning an M.S. in Sport and Performance Psychology. While working alongside a collaborative healthcare team, I realized how vital mental health wellness was for every client that was in my care. I was able to see the bigger picture, bringing me to earn my M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Speaking as a first gen Iranain-American neuroqueer woman, my lived experiences have directed me towards becoming an advocate for systemic equality and transformation. My passions reside in trauma-informed care, gender-affirming care, and helping high conflict relationships of all backgrounds navigate through their journey. I strive to cultivate a non-judgmental environment that allows for connection and validity. Together we can identify and utilize your inner potential and strength to nurture the growth you desire to achieve.

Outside of seeing clients, I enjoy adding to my vast collection of vintage and antiques. I collect items from the Victorian Era up to the 1980’s Post Modern Era. My heart is full when I go to shows or concerts, play DnD, and when I spend quality time with my girlfriend, chosen family, friends, and my little furry familiars (Laszlo, Nyx, & Primrose). When I am not partaking in fun, quality time, or self-care… I am pursuing a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, in hopes of conducting research on same sex, genderfluid, and neurodiverse couple systems within the LGBTQIA+ community, as the community has brought me so much.

I am supervised by Dr. Erica Carpenter, LMFT-S (Texas License #202458).

 Savannah's Approach

Savannah enjoys working with couples, polycules, families, and individuals from all walks of life while taking a diversified strengths-based approach. She has direct experience working within the LGBTQIA+, Neurodiverse, Kink/BDSM, and Poly/CNM populations....as well as her own lived experience as being a member of those populations. She takes an eclectic approach of care for her clients, as she believes no one size fits all. However, she is attuned to experiential and emotionally focused methods that call for a strength-based approach, client autonomy, emotional awareness, personal and relational growth, authenticity, healing attachment wounds, and a mind-body connection.

She operates under the assumption that all humans are capable of making change and already have innate strengths to help them get there - her job is to help you discover these strengths and learn how to utilize them. She often incorporates movement, meditation, mindfulness, and expressive arts alongside talk therapy. Savannah is also EMDR trained and can provide EMDR at the request of her clients.

Her specialties lie in personality disorders, complex trauma, and defusing high conflict relationships. She emphasizes a holistic and non-pathologizing perspective that aids in every relationship and individual's uniqueness.
